Last month our Outreach Coordinator, Katie Phillips and Geospatial Information Librarian, Josh Sadvari co-presented a workshop on the basics of web mapping using ArcGIS Online (AGOL). This workshop was aimed at OSU faculty, staff, and students from all disciplines who want to use GIS in their research but are not familiar with the software.

This workshop walked OSU users though how to set up an ArcGIS Online account and how to create a web map. Josh and Katie showed the users the different aspects of AGOL and how useful the different tools in the online platform can be. The workshop started out with the basics of creating a new map, transitioned into how to add and work with the data by changing the style of the data and highlighting multiple attributes at once, and finally finished with an example of how to spatially analyze the data given certain criteria and how to create a web application.

If you missed this workshop don't worry. We usually offer this workshop once every spring and fall. If you have questions on this workshop or need assistance with mapping you can contact either Josh Sadvari at Sadvari.1@osu.edu or Katie Phillips at Phillips.1870@osu.edu.
