In the News: New proposal aimed to make streets safer goes before Cleveland City Council
This week, a new ordinance went before the Cleveland City Council to look at the streetscape. This new legislation would update the current Green Streets Ordinance. They want to make the ordinance stronger to allow for better outcomes when it comes to design. CURA director, Harvey Miller, was interviewed by News 5 Cleveland to talk about the hazards of streets that resemble highways.
“It's not surprising that we have so much mayhem on our streets right now because they're really designed for speed and not safety,” Miller said. “It's more inclusive to more users and therefore it raises the quality of life, which is a big issue, especially in a place like Cleveland, which is becoming an older city.” - Harvey Miller
