Event Recap: Urban Air Quality Presentation by Dr. Michelle Bell
Earlier this month, Dr. Michelle Bell of Yale University gave a presentation on the past, present, and future state of air quality in highly urbanized areas.
Dr. Bell's research investigates how human health is affected by atmospheric systems, including air pollution and weather. Other areas of interest in research include health impacts of climate change and environmental justice. Much of her work is based in epidemiology, biostatistics, and environmental engineering. Her research is designed to be targeted towards policy makers to contribute to well-informed decision-making.
Her presentation was well received and gave a good overview of how far our society has come in air quality improvements. We still have work to do but we have come a long way from the London Smog event of 1952.
