CURA has attended the annual MORPC State of the Region for the past few years. This year, the theme was Powering Our Region Forward. This event gathered 1,000 of the top community and business leaders from across Central Ohio to learn about the region's accomplishments and what is next to come. This year's keynote speaker, was Deputy Assistant Secretary Charles Small, United States Department of Transportation (USDOT). His talk highlighted new funding sources that were created under this administration. A panel led by DriveOhio Executive Director, Preeti Choudhary discussed the various modes of transportation being discussed and how they would improve the lives of Ohioans. The panel included Derrick James, Amtrak; Karina Ricks, Cityfi; Christopher Hart, Hart Solutions LLC; and Thea Ewing, (formerly with MORPC). The results of MORPC's Leaders Listen Survey Series, developed in partnership with The Columbus Dispatch and CHRR at The Ohio State University, to obtain residents’ opinions on experiences and services in the region. Surprisingly, it showed how much public transportation was wanted in the city, especially rail.
