CURA in the Community
On Saturday, August 3rd, CURA attended events hosted by two community partners: Ohio History Connection and Gertrude Wood Community Foundation. First, CURA stopped by OHC and the James Preston Poindexter Foundation's Poindexter Village Drum Circle. Held annually at Champion Park at Poindexter, the event included local vendors, food trucks, drum-making craft tables, and performances from community elders. The Drum Circle was a wonderful opportunity for community members to connect and engage with history.
Next, CURA visited the Gertrude Wood Community Foundation Community Housing and Wellness Fair in Driving Park. Residents were able to take advantage of free school supplies, haircuts, clothing refreshments, and health screening. CURA Outreach Coordinator, Jordan Swaim-Fox, shared information about the Ghost Neighborhoods project and spoke to interested community members about the work. It was a busy Saturday, and a privilege to participate in events held by these great organizations.
