CURA at 2025 Juneteenth Events

Harvey Miller, Jordan Swaim-Fox, and Gavin Levine were on hand at two Juneteenth celebrations: Jubilee Day at the Ohio History Connection on June 19 and Juneteenth on the Ave on June 21. They shared CURA’s Ghost Neighborhoods project which uses 3D modeling and VR technology to reconstruct historic Black neighborhoods prior to urban highways and urban renewal, such as Mt Vernon Ave in the 1950s, Hanford Village in the 1940s, and Hanford Village in the early 1960s. Both events were very well attended, with over 1,000 participants total.
CURA’s work in this area will be on display in the new Poindexter Village African American Museum, opening in 2028.
