Jesse Plascak is an Assistant Professor of Cancer Prevention and Control within the College of Medicine and a member of the OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center, Cancer Control Program. As a cancer epidemiologist, he studies relationships between social and built environment factors on cancer outcomes across the cancer continuum. Common to Dr. Plascak’s funded projects, he investigates policy-relevant, modifiable environmental factors and the psychosocial mechanisms by which they might impact cancer disparities by racialized identity or geography. His epidemiologic investigations incorporate epigenomics, physiologic measures of stress, neighborhood audits, and spatio-temporal modelling informed by socio-ecologic theories of disease distribution. Dr. Plascak’s research ultimately seeks to better understand cancer disparities and inform feasible practices and policies that can lead to greater cancer health equity.
